Mesh network applications

Many problems could be solved or optimized through Mesh network communication.

A Mesh network isn't the best option for everything. Here we explain under which conditions it makes sense, which industries we apply it to and how we bring it into our products.

Is a Mesh network my best option?

The conditions that need to be met

Many problems could be solved or optimized through mesh network communication. What conditions need to be met for mesh to be the best option? The most important conditions are the following:

  • Fixed devicesDevices should not be mobile, since they can act as repeaters.
  • Limited bandwidthThe required bandwidth should be limited (56kb max). This means video or audio cannot be transmitted over this type of network.
  • Device densityThe density of devices should be relatively high.
  • Access to installationsThere should be control of/access to the installation sites of all devices.
  • Centralized managementControl and maintenance of the network as a whole should be centralized.

Mesh vs. one SIM per device

When these conditions are met, a private network has clear advantages over connecting each device to the cellular network separately.

Industries

Where we apply Mesh technology

Today we bring it to market through two proprietary products, and the same foundation serves other services in cities, industry and agriculture.

CityMesh

Electronic security

Alarm event communication for monitoring companies, over a network that grows with every subscriber.

AMIAR

Electric power

Smart metering for utilities and cooperatives, including rural areas with no signal.

Smart cities

Street lighting, public services and urban sensors connected over a single network.

Oil and gas

Telemetry for equipment spread across oil fields and areas with no communications infrastructure.

Agriculture

Sensors and metering on rural properties, where cellular coverage is scarce.

Industry 4.0

Communication between factory machines and sensors, with lower installation and maintenance costs.

Our products

Success stories

Our products bring the Mesh network to two essential services.

CityMesh

CityMesh ® is the wireless communicator, compatible with traditional alarm panels, that established the Mesh network in Argentina. This innovative product was developed entirely by Deitres ® in 2009 and has evolved continuously into a robust, reliable solution for the monitoring industry.

Each installed CityMesh ® acts as a smart repeater within the network, allowing the coverage area to expand naturally. This makes it more than a simple communicator: every installed device strengthens and extends the network without the need for large radio infrastructure or devices with cellular SIMs.

Its latest version also adds alarm panel functionality and mobile apps for end users and technicians.

AMIAR

AMIAR ® is the first Smart Grid built entirely in Argentina. It was designed specifically for emerging economies, and its development received funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology.

It is a wireless communication network in which every installed device acts as a smart repeater for the rest. In addition to the necessary hardware, we develop the software that brings together the information from the entire network and manages it.

The most important aspect of the AMIAR ® project is that electric utilities can turn operating expense into investment without increasing their total costs.
