Deitres

Joint project with the Office of the President of Argentina

The company that develops solutions for the monitoring industry, including Argentina’s first wireless Mesh communicator for alarm panels, will be in charge of the AMIAR project for Smart Grid communication of energy meters.

The founders of Deitres S.A., Bernardo Martínez (CEO) and Ezequiel Manzini (CTO), met with President Mauricio Macri at the Quinta de Olivos as part of a strategic urban development and energy-saving project led by the National Government, which includes installing smart electronic meters in Buenos Aires neighborhoods 31 and 31 Bis.

Also present at the meeting between Macri and Deitres executives was Jorge Aguado, Secretary of Planning and Policy in Science, Technology and Productive Integration. Deitres, a leader in Radial Mesh Networks for alarm monitoring, manufactures the Citymesh HP communicators used to build the radial Mesh networks operated by Argentina’s leading alarm monitoring companies, applying the same Smart Grid technology to energy metering projects and to the production of smart meters. Since early March, Deitres has installed the first forty smart meters in homes across different neighborhoods of the City of Buenos Aires.

The meters continuously record energy consumption data and, using Smart Grid technology, send the collected data to a platform that gathers consumption data instantly, a key requirement for smart energy management. THE AMIAR PROJECT AMIAR is the first Smart Grid developed entirely in Argentina, with support from EMPRETECNO, and is designed specifically for developing economies. AMIAR is an infrastructure for service metering, diagnostics and control.

It is a Radial Mesh Network in which each installed device acts as a smart repeater for the others. The system consists of the hardware needed for metering, control and monitoring, plus a software platform, DOMO, that serves as the interface for these devices. The most important thing about the AMIAR energy metering project, and what makes it unique in its market, is that it achieves a product concept in which electric utilities can, without increasing their total costs, turn their operating costs into investment so that, after a few years, they own an advanced metering infrastructure and full control over the entire installed network, achieving a major technological leap in their systems without any investment beyond what they are already making. This is the system’s key feature, and it is what makes it possible to deploy technologies of this kind in emerging economies. A PARALLEL WITH SECURITY If we draw a parallel in our industry with the replacement of the traditional communicators used to report alarm events by CityMesh HP smart communicators, we clearly see a similar situation: the monitoring company starts replacing communicators without increasing its total investment, radically lowering its operating costs and turning them into investment by gaining a full control system over the entire installed network, redundant and multi-path, again without spending any money beyond what has already been invested. The technology used in the AMIAR Smart Grid for smart energy metering is identical to that used in the Radial Mesh Network for alarm events that Deitres develops, manufactures and sells under the CityMesh name. In fact, they share the same radio module the company developed for its new CityMesh HP, introduced in September 2017, with components and technology transfer from Atmel, a world leader in embedded radio components.

Deitres gives its users, alarm monitoring centers, the latest Smart Grid technology applied to alarm event communication, along with its DOMO control and management platform. THE HARDWARE Here we review the meter’s features so that users understand the technology their alarm communications will run on, and the technological parallel between the two projects, AMIAR/CityMesh HP, and their derived products for energy metering and smart alarm event control. Both work under the same technological concept and bring the benefits of high-tech transfer to your alarm monitoring center. The Deitres smart residential meter offers multi-rate metering as well as direct, flexible and modular communication, combining measurement of incoming and outgoing energy, both active and reactive, as well as apparent energy.

The end-to-end secure design protects the meter and its communications against fraud and tampering. The devices communicate by forming a network with a modern mesh topology (RPL), designed specifically for networks with high packet loss and high node density. Some of AMIAR’s main features are:

• Automatic redundancy across self-managed links (3G/4G, Ethernet, etc.)

• Programmable transmit power

• High sensitivity

• Dual firmware, updatable over the air at a data rate of 200 Kbps, configurable up to 2,000 Kbps

• Powerful connectivity and application compatibility: the operating system with native IPv6 supports all Internet standards: UDP, DNS, TCP, CoAP, MQTT, Torrent, P2P, etc.

• 128-bit encryption security

• Modern OFDM modulation (excellent immunity to noise, interference and multipath)

• Operating frequency: 915 – 926 All of the metering hardware’s attributes are shared with the CityMesh HP alarm event communicators.

ABOUT DEITRES Deitres S.A., a company dedicated to security and telemetry, and monitoring in particular, has an interdisciplinary team of professionals with a wide range of knowledge and experience who deliver innovative solutions. Its goal is to create advanced developments that are simple and intuitive to use, allowing the company to grow on the principles of reliability, quality and effectiveness. Its best-known solution on the market is CityMesh, a Radial IP Mesh system for reporting alarm events that integrates the free Domo platform and 3G wireless communicators.

The resulting network is highly secure, with multiple links and paths available to guarantee that the event is received at the monitoring center.

Deploying a CityMesh radial Mesh network brings a number of short-term benefits: it lowers operating costs and enables a better service. Domo, in turn, is the self-management platform for operating and administering a CityMesh Radial Mesh Network, providing full remote control. It is an optional, free platform, available in the cloud or hosted on the monitoring company’s own servers, allowing full independence from third parties.

Over these years, the company has focused on improving and expanding its product offering, while building the right structure to sustain the excellent after-sales service that sets it apart.

The steady progress achieved rests on Deitres’ commitment to its customers, who reward this effort with commercial loyalty and ideas that lead to new developments.
