With the presence of Argentina’s Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas, a series of activities focused on developing the knowledge industry in Mar del Plata took place today.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Núcleo group, home to several technology ventures.
The visit by Kulfas, accompanied by other officials, aimed to give a boost to a sector that has been growing in recent years and has significant potential.
Specifically, the minister formalized a loan to the Núcleo group and granted a Non-Reimbursable Contribution to the Industrial Park. He also toured and learned about the various projects being developed at Núcleo and held a meeting with members of the Mar del Plata Information and Communication Technologies Association (ATICMA).
He also took part in a certificate ceremony for a group of participants in Argentina Programa, a national government initiative that in Mar del Plata has 6,200 enrollees.
Kulfas highlighted the strength of the sector and praised the effort to “make visible the enormous potential Mar del Plata has as a city of knowledge, as a city that produces content and software.”

“One can’t help but be pleased and surprised by the quality of the projects in this city and by the creation of a technology district that is a source of pride for the city and the country, and that makes it possible to generate knowledge and jobs and to develop technologies that are highly positive for many economic sectors of the country to work,” he added.
Addressing the Argentina Programa participants, the minister spoke about the importance of the knowledge economy in creating jobs, stressing that “there is nothing more dignified than work and being able to get ahead.” “We are a country that moves forward this way. Not with welfare plans, which are for emergencies. What moves us forward is real work,” he said.
A boost for the District
During the meeting with ATICMA members, the Ministry of Productive Development formalized a Non-Reimbursable Contribution (ANR) of about 14 million pesos from the Knowledge Economy Nodes program, which will allow the Association to move its offices to the Núcleo building.
But the change of location means much more than a move: it is the kickoff of the Technology District.
The ordinance creating it was approved last year, and ATICMA’s arrival in the area is starting to “bring the place to life.”
“It’s important because the District is starting to take shape,” summed up the Association’s president, Renato Rosello, who stressed the need for the provincial government to adhere to the Knowledge Economy Law.

With the shipbuilding industry
Kulfas was accompanied by the Secretary of Industry, Knowledge Economy and Foreign Trade Management, Ariel Schale; the Undersecretaries of Industry, Julieta Loustau, and of Knowledge Economy, María Apólito; and the president of the National Agency for the Promotion of Science and Technology, Fernando Peirano. Local city council members Virginia Sívori and Ariel Ciano were also present.
Earlier, the minister took part in the second day of the International Shipbuilding Industry Meeting (Einaval), held at the MAR Museum. There, he highlighted the momentum and outlook of the shipbuilding industry and its importance for the economy of the city and the country.
